A skeleton lesson so close to Halloween. You'll learn several ways to say how something was done using -by and the difference between on purpose and by accident. Hopefully, you are feeling emotionally secure and physically safe. A quick review of safe and secure. Sometimes they are interchangeable and sometimes not. See if you can tell the difference.
Has this short lesson inspired you to do something fun for halloween? Maybe buy one of the pumpkins that are everywhere during this time or even more daring, dressing up as a ghost or a witch -if that is not just part of your everyday response to teammates and work.
The answers to the exercises; 1. by mistake, 2. by all appearances, 3. by coincidence, 4. by chance, 5. by default, 6. by all means 7. by ear!
I work in a lab and sometimes I work with chemicals that are not safe. I have to secure them in a safe. I spilt some of the chemical on my hand when I opend the safe. Security came when they heard me scream. they checked the area and made sure that I was safe. Luckily, I won't lose my job, because my boss knows that the accident happened by anccident and not on purpose. We used Jamal's health insurance because he has a secure job. I'm at home, on pain killers. My hand is bandaged, but at least I feel safe, after being in such danger.
Did you get them all? Do you think there is a case for using either safe or secure? Let me know in the chat or on facebook. Hope you have a safe Halloween if you are living in a country that celebrates it.
