I hope your year has started off with a bang! Your English Survival lessons are just getting started. In this blog we look at sounds we use as words. There are many of these sounds such as -"bang". Bang, makes the sound of the word so it is, get this (long word alert) onomatopoeia! There are sounds also that we just say that have earned a meaning. These are sounds that we use to express meanings. Have fun with those! The other issue is what to call groups of things -did you know that if you see 4 pigeons together that you are looking at a murder! Yes, a murder of pigeons means a group of pigeons. We will look at groups of things that have been put into containers. I've looked at some groups of people and made up names of my own and also taken some from the Mammoth Book of Jokes. So please help me and add to them. What would you call a group of teachers?
I wish you a great new year and I wish us a great year together!
