Christmas time is here and in the U.S. it is time to think strategically about how to get through the holidays with the most joy squeezed out of every moment. It is not all commercial, there are lots of people involved in charity work at this time, trying to make Christmas special for the homeless, the elderly and those who have been abandoned, be it to the streets, the hospitals, or the prisons. It's a time to care. Giving is how we show that we care. We say, it is better to give than to receive, and so we try to give more. Sometimes, it comes out twisted, we give and it becomes a financial burden. The stores make us think there is some "thing" that we can give that will become a memory that will never be forgotten. However, great memories are also coupons for back rubs and baby sitting. The giving of yourself and of your time is the most memorable gift you can give. As Americans we struggle with the perfect gift. Sometimes there are no words, however learn how to be prepared for the office Christmas party and surprise gifts.
Once again, I am leaving the answer to the "quiz" to your imagination. Maybe it can start a conversation about how to have fun at such shindigs without losing your reputation or your job. Or have a devil-may-care attitude, it's a lot easier skating on thin ice than you might think, and who knows you might come to enjoy it. Otherwise stick to the crepe table and smile and wave, just smile and wave.
