In Heidelberg, the leaves have turned into fiery reds, brilliant yellows and smoky corals. The sky is robin egg blue and a refreshing, crisp breeze is collecting the smells in my area which are—to name a few—wood smoke, horse hair, hay and ...onion cake.
Our neighbors have invited us over for onion cake and new wine. It is a regional favorite at this time of year. I hope if you know someone who is new to Germany you will share this tradition with them. It is a wonderful part of German culture that I always find to be interesting to us newcomers: German cuisine.
coral: a deep or strong pink to moderate red or reddish orange
cuisine: a style or manner of cooking; French cuisine
